If I weren’t Egyptian

Création sonore pour la pièce d’Omar Ghayatt , If I weren’t Egyptian (2011)

Why do some two million people every year risk their lives every year trying to cross over to Europe from the North African coast, while at the same time in Bern, in the heart of Europe, bridges are fenced off with barbed wire to prevent people from committing suicide?
What does it mean if paradise and hell become the same place? When one person dies to reach what another dies to get rid of, then aren’t we just creating paradise and hell in our minds? Aren’t we all searching for something, something that is always elsewhere? Doesn’t each and every one of us have his or her own Elsewhere?
